about usmail crossline

Origins

Some 15 years ago, Christians from a number of churches came together under the auspices of the Edinburgh City Mission to provide a helpline for distressed and hurting people living in and around the Capital.  From these humble beginnings, Crossline Scotland has evolved into a national careline serving the people of Scotland and beyond from volunteer centres throughout the country.

Our volunteers

Our careline workers are all trained volunteers whose Christian faith moves them to care. They are drawn from all walks of life and Christian traditions and receive ongoing training and supervision in their work with Crossline.

Quality standard

Crossline Scotland is a member of the Telephone Helplines Association and has been awarded the THA’s Quality Standard.

Our mission

To support the Church as it seeks to minister to the needs of its people and its community through the provision of a confidential helpline and on-line services.  Operating to the highest standards, these services are based on Christian commitment, insight and values.

To help callers in their journey of change and growth, unconditionally and without discrimination or partiality of any kind.

To treat all who call with empathy and respect, acknowledging their uniqueness and value, and right to make their own life-choices.

Partnerships

Crossline Scotland works within a network of statutory and voluntary agencies.

We are a member of the Evangelical Alliance and affiliated members of the Association of Christian Counsellors, CARE and the Council of Voluntary Services.

We are working in partnership with a growing number of local churches and Christian organisations.

We also work with Christian broadcasters, providing a helpline for Revival Radio and support United Christian Broadcasters’ (UCB) Prayer Line.
